Bhutan will witness its first international music concert with Canadians Bryan Adams and k.d lang performing on April 22 and 23 next year. Until 1999, Bhutan did not even have television and this move comes as a huge leap for the small kingdom, which also has a restrictive tourism policy. Ontario-born Adams and Alberta-born lang will perform at the Royal Textile Academy in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Five hundred guests will attend the performance including Her Majesty, the Queen Mother, Azhi Sangay Choden Wangchuck. It is speculated that the tickets are going to be priced hefty but the proceeds from the show will benefit the Bhutan Canada Foundation and RENEW Bhutan, two organisations that support education and empowerment for women and children.
