The Snow Man trek has been termed as one of the world’s most challenging treks. The original trek lasts for about a month. This particular trek is designed for travellers whose goal remains to experience a country, to experience Bhutan via trekking, but at a level that meets them. 

While the original trek covers 5 districts, this shorter version covers only 2 districts, Gasa and Bumthang, beginning at the high-land village of Laya in Gasa. 

Completing a trek, irrespective of the level, should always be seen as an accomplishment and we welcome you to take on this challenge.

  • A minimum of 3-star accommodation (4 & 5 stars can be upgraded at an additional fee)

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival; Paro

Drive to Thimphu for sightseeing and overnight at the hotel in Thimphu. 

Day 02: Thimphu to Gasa

Head to Gasa after breakfast. 

Day 03: Hike to Laya

Trek starts 

Day 04: Laya to Rodophu

Day 05: Rodophu to Narethng

Day 06: Narethan to Tarena

Day 07: Tarina to Wochu

Day 08: Woche to Lhede

Day 09: Lhedi to Thanza

Day 10: Rest day!

Day 11: Thanza to Thosrim

Day 12: Tshorim to Gangkhar Phunesum Base Camp

While mountains are considered sacred in Bhutan, you can still experience them from afar. 

Gangkhar Phunsum is the highest mountain in Bhutan. 

 

Day 13: Geshe Woma – Warathang

Day 14: Warathang – Dur Tshachu (hot spring)

Day 15: Dur Tshachu- Tshochenchen

Day 16: Tshochenchen- Dur village

Trek ends 

Day 17: Drive to Paro/ Take a flight

Day 18: Rest
