Tamshing Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was built by Pema Lingpa in the 15th century. Pema Lingpa is revered as one of the five great tertons (treasure discoverers) prophesied by Guru Rinpoche, who is considered the second Buddha.
Located in Bumthang, Tamshing serves as the main seat of Pema Lingpa, who was born in Tang Valley. Tamshing Monastery is renowned for being home to some of the most sacred dances in Bhutanese religious history. Terton Pema Lingpa discovered many treasures that significantly contributed to the dharma and the well-being of sentient beings.
