Dewathang

Dewathang, which translates to “flat area of happiness,” is home to the Jigme Namgyel College of Engineering and holds both historical and religious significance. This is the site where Jigme Namgyel, the father of Bhutan’s first king, led the Bhutanese army against British forces.

Dewathang also has religious importance, being the location of the Chökyi Gyatso Institute, which started as a small temple. The institute was founded by Jamyang Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, a revered spiritual leader and world-renowned filmmaker.
