Gasa Dzong
Gasa Dzong was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. Set against the backdrop of rugged, snow-capped mountains, it is located in one of the highest altitude districts in Bhutan. The dzong was constructed to commemorate a victory over the Tibetans, highlighting its historical significance.
The dzong’s protector, known as Gomo, is a central figure in local lore. Below the dzong lies a lake where Gomo is said to have appeared in the form of a snake.
