Lhuntse Dzong

Sitting atop a ridge, Lhuntse Dzong was built in the 16th century by Minjur Tempa, the ruler of Trongsa. It serves as the administrative and religious seat of Lhuntse Dzongkhag. The dzong was built on the site of a 15th-century meditation center, adding to its historical significance.

The dzong’s seven lhakhangs (temples) are open to visitors.

The two-day Lhuntse Tshechu attracts crowds from both Lhuntse and neighboring districts.
