Located a couple of hours’ drive from Trashigang town, Rangshikhar Goenpa is best visited during the fall or late winter when the weather is perfect. The drive takes you through lush Chir pine forests, adding to the serene experience.
The Goenpa is more than just a religious site; it is home to a great meditation master, Rangshikhar Rinpoche, who spends his time in the mountains away from the Goenpa. Fortunately, his son and daughter-in-law take care of the Goenpa, which also serves as an old age home.
Upon arrival, expect to feel a profound sense of calm and peace, as if you have been transported to a different, secluded space. If for nothing else, let this be your reason to visit eastern Bhutan!
