Tower of Trongsa The Royal Heritage Museum

The Tower of Trongsa, now known as the Royal Heritage Museum, is a former watchtower that has been transformed into a captivating museum. It features several distinct galleries, each dedicated to a unique theme. One gallery honors the deities of the dzong, another celebrates Jigme Namgyel, the father of Bhutan’s first king, and a third focuses on an influential 18th-century lama. Additionally, there is a gallery showcasing artifacts and items belonging to various Bhutanese kings and another dedicated to various Buddhas. With a collection of over 500 items, it stands as one of Bhutan’s most extensive museums, rivaled only by the Ta Dzong in Paro. Visitors often tour the magnificent Trongsa Dzong before exploring the rich exhibits of the museum.
