Bhutan Receives the Special Travel Destinations Award

Bhutan received the ‘Special Travel Destinations Award’ last month, at the 2023 Voyage Magazine Award Ceremony. The award ceremony was held at the Park Hyatt Hotel, in Beijing, China, signifying Bhutan’s second travel award from the country.

The ‘Special Travel Destinations Award’ solidifies the increasing interest of Chinese tourists in Bhutan while acknowledging Bhutan’s unparalleled conservation efforts and commitment to a sustainable way of life.

The award ceremony highlighted diverse travel trends, putting a spotlight on eco-tourism, nature-focused adventures, and sustainable travel. It emphasized Bhutan as a unique and appealing destination for Chinese tourists.

Dorji Dradhul, the Director General of Tourism, conveyed his “immense joy and excitement” in response to the recognition, affirming, “It reflects our commitment to ensuring that every journey to Bhutan is truly exceptional.”

Bhutan received its first award in December 2023—the ‘Outstanding Destination Excellence Award,’ at the 18th National Geographic Traveler China Golden Awards Ceremony.

National Geographic Traveler holds a prestigious status in China as one of the pioneering international magazines in the country.

Furthermore, ongoing friendly talks between Bhutan and China in 2023 contribute to the promotion of peace between the two countries. As Bhutan continues to sparkle on the travel scene, it invites travelers to enjoy its peaceful landscapes, monastic architecture, and the warm hospitality of its people—a haven for those seeking a deeper connection with nature and culture.
