Bhutan signs economic cooperation pact with Thailand

During Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay’s first official visit to Thailand on November 14, an economic cooperation pact was signed to boost trade relations between the two countries. Lyonchhen and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra also discussed areas of mutual trade benefits and cooperation. Yingluck urged Lyonchhen to share information on investment to Thai companies, particularly those involved in infrastructure and tourism while he said Bhutan would like to receive more tourists from Thailand. At present Bhutan receives about 3,600 Thai tourists a year as against 22,000 Bhutanese visitors to Thailand.
