Bhutanese believe that the Dragon Year is auspicious to have babies. The National referral hospital in Thimphu has been busier than usual this year. Records show there has been 1915 babies born from February, start of the Dragon year as per the Bhutanese calendar, till July this year.
This is more the 300 deliveries more compared to last year during the same period.
However, there are no confirmed sources to prove that the birth rise is due to the year, some say it could be mere coincidence.
