Last Saturday, the official Facebook page for Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), Bhutan’s future sustainable city, announced that British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran will be performing in Bhutan. He is set to perform in Thimphu, the capital, on January 24, 2025, kicking off his tour.
The announcement quickly gained attention, with some concerns raised about payment issues. This was likely due to increased bank activity and the fact that this will be Bhutan’s first time hosting a concert of this scale.
Before coming to Bhutan, Ed Sheeran visited India and is hugely popular there. He will also be performing in India next year.
The show will take place at the Changlimithang Stadium. The venue is known for hosting historic events like Bhutan’s National Day and other major celebrations.
