His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the 31-year-old king of Bhutan, announced his engagement with Jetsun Pema at the opening of seventh session of parliament today. The royal wedding, which the King informed the nation would a simple affair, is expected to be held in October this year.

With a shy and heart-warming smile, His Majesty described Jetsun Pema as a humble and loving girl. His Majesty had, earlier in the week, shared the news with teachers and students of yangchenphug Higher Secondary school in Thimphu.

    we also pray for beautiful child which would pose quality like 5th king which would in his or her time bring unlimited peace and harmony in our country and in the world.

  5. It is very praiseworthy to see that people of Bhutan are so pround of their king. I learned through an article of this subject that people of Bhutan score among the highest in the hapiness index and it is a country where wealth of the country is measured through hapiness of its subjects not material possessions. I am certain the land is blessed. I wish to visit Bhutan some day.
