Momringpas from Lauri gewog in Samdrupjongkhar have revived their 96-year old dance, which was on the verge of extinction since a few years back. Civil servants, cabbies, corporate and private employees across the country, who hail from Momring village have come together to practice for their annual Momringpa tsechu below Buddha point, or at the royal institute of health and sciences multi-purpose hall since 2010. The initiative was taken by Samdrupjongkhar’s national council member, Jigme Wangchuk who is from Momring and coordinates the tsechu. He emphasized the need to revive the dying culture.
