Swiss Cheese Factory
Located near Bathpalathang Airport, the history of Bumthang Swiss Cheese traces back to the arrival of Fritz Maurer, a Swiss national who became an honorary Bhutanese citizen and settled in Bumthang.
Maurer established a small Swiss-style cheese production, specializing in Gouda and Emmental varieties among others. Today, the factory is operated by a local family.
Visitors can explore a shop adjacent to the factory offering locally made cheese, beer, honey, and various other items.
