Located in the extreme northwest of Bhutan and spanning across an area of 3,130 sq. km, Gasa is known for its tshachus (hot springs). The dzongkhag has a number of lhakhangs and choetens. The majority of the people in Gasa speak Dzongkha besides the Layaps and Lunaps who speak different dialects. The weather in Gasa in summer is pleasant while winters are extremely cold. There is heavy snowfall in winter.
