“The Red Door,” a film directed by avant-garde Bhutanese film maker Tashi Gyeltshen with minimal funds and sans big wig endorsement has been selected to be screened at two international film festivals: Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Fribourg at Switzerland. The film explores the theme of death and on a personal note was made by the filmmaker to console himself after the death of his nephew who took his own life. The red door is a metaphor for death and the film reaffirms that every man carries his own death. Tashi Gyeltshen was a journalist before becoming a filmmaker. To his credit are two other films: “The Girl with the Red Sky” and “A Forgotten Story.”
