Bhutan appoints first women ambassadors

Bhutan appointed two women ambassadors for the first time in its history. Kunzang C. Namgyel has been appointed as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. She joined the foreign ministry in 1980 and has served in various capacities in Thimphu, Kathmandu and Geneva. Also Pema Choden, the former Managing Director of the Bhutan Broadcasting Service, has been appointed as the Ambassador to Bangladesh. She has served as the Chief of Bilateral Department for Europe, America, and Africa Division. She has also served in various capacities in Dhaka and Geneva.
