Spanning an area of about an acre (4046.86 sq ft), Rangjung Woesel Choling Monastery is located in Rangjung and was founded by His Eminence Dungse Garab Rinpoche in 1989. The monastery serves as a place for both monks and nuns to study and perform good deeds.
Rinpoche led an interesting life across multiple countries, including Tibet, where he was born and raised until the age of seventeen. Being of the Nyingma sect, Rinpoche’s monastery stands out, as most lhakhangs in Bhutan belong to the Kagyu sect.
In addition to the temple, the monastery also provides housing facilities for its students.
