O.A.R.S, the world’s No.1 white water rafting and culture-based adventure travel is planning to launch expeditions in Bhutan starting Nov. 6-18, 2014, and Feb. 12-24, 2015. The expedition will explore two rivers in the country: the Lower Drangme Chhu in the east on the southern slope of the Himalayas bordering India, and the Pho Chhu. These are Class III Rivers unique in themselves.
This 13-day program combines whitewater rafting with getting a bit of know-how about the country’s culture. The rate is USD 6,165 per person based on double occupancy (single supplement USD540) for ages 16 and above and includes accommodation (camping and hotels), all meals, airport transfers, equipment, guides, park fees and more.
The adventure begins from Paro in the west where you will land. You will cross several high passes and reach the Lower Drangme Chhu. Enroute, you will get to hike upto the Tiger’s Nest Monastery perched on a cliff 3,000 m high in Paro, visit Trongsa Dzong, the National Museum and weaving centers of Chumey Valley before arriving in Bumthang. Other highlights include crossing tropical forests, villages, a foray into India to Manas National Park Lodge and an elephant safari in the Manas Wildlife Park.
